Who We Are

Smart, Affordable Products

Ice Sea Refrigeration began when Mark McBride started designing, building and selling custom marine refrigeration systems for cruising yachts in 1996. The first design was a 1/2 hp 12 volt DC motor belted to a CCI (York) compressor, water cooled condenser and holding plates in refrigerator and freezer. From that the Solenoid Valve Assembly (SVA) was developed, with zone priority, on an easy to install panel.  Then came the first marketed standard system version, with a Colder Italia 12 volt DC compressor, water cooled condenser, and holding plates, with optional SVA.  Later two Danfoss BD50f compressors were used to replace the troublesome Colder Italia compressors. The dual Danfoss units were difficult to build so the new Masterflux compressor was selected for the third and current version.

Ice Sea Refrigeration was the first to market with the MasterFlux Sierra Compressor, released at the 1998 Seattle Boat Show. The first unit went to Jeff Stander on his Kelly Peterson 44, <Jeff's website> which is still in use today, now in Australia. New speed control systems are in the works for this system to add efficiency that has been mostly overlooked until recently.
